Frit Lace Glass Art Class

Explore the captivating world of frit lace glass art in this immersive class. You will learn to create stunning, lace-like glass pieces using the frit lace technique. Students will be guided through the basics of frit lace, from designing intricate patterns to firing the glass in a kiln. This class covers the use of various frit sizes and colors and offers tips for achieving beautiful, balanced designs.
This is a two-part class. In the first week, you will create a unique frit lace panel with pre- made lace pieces, approximately 4″ x 4″. You will also create four of your own frit lace pieces that will be fired in between classes. In the next week, you will use two of your own frit lace pieces to create two more finished pieces which can be used as a standalone art piece, slumped, or incorporated into larger projects. Your glass panels will be fired after class, and students will be notified via email when projects are ready for pickup (within one week).
All materials included. No experience is required.
Fused Glass Wrought Iron Garden Stake

Fused glass meets wrought iron. You will be creating a beautiful wrought iron fused glass garden stake to add a splash of color to your yard or patio. Students will learn basic fusing concepts and will have the opportunity to use transparent and/or opalescent colored glass on a clear base along with frit, stringers, and glass nuggets. You’ll be given tips on design and layout to create your own unique garden stake. You’ll be making a 2-3/4″ x 24″ fused glass panel to insert into a wrought iron garden stake that stands approximately 43″ high. Glass panels are fired after class. Students will be notified via email when projects are ready for pickup (within one week). If these dates and times don’t work for you, please inquire about private classes.

Introduction to Fusing

Our introductory fusing class provides you with the basic technical and practical skills necessary to start fusing on your own. The class includes basic cutting skills, firing schedules, safety topics, and design techniques. You will have an opportunity to try out the various tools available to work with glass. This is a one-day, hands-on class in which you will foster your fusing knowledge while assembling an 8” square project using one of several patterns provided. Your final art can be used as a plate or display piece.
All materials are included. No previous experience required.
Fused Glass Halloween Candy Dish

In this 3-hour workshop you will create your own Halloween plate on black, white or persimmon colored glass. Stringers, noodles, glass frit and pre-fired nuggets will help you build your spooky scene. You have the option to leave your art flat for display in a stand or slumped to use as a serving plate.
No previous experience required.
Fused Glass Seattle Skyline

In this 3-hour workshop you will create your own Seattle skyline on clear glass. You build the ideal little city around your Seattle Space Needle or Big Wheel using opaque colored glass in black, charcoal, pewter, ivory and mauve. Stringers, noodles, glass frit and pre-cut shapes will help you build your scene. You have the option to leave your art flat for display in a stand (stand not included) or slumped to stand on edge and put a candle behind to make your city glow. Fused Glass Lantern

You will be creating a custom designed lantern with 4-fused glass panels. Enjoy your lantern in your home or on your deck. You will learn basic fusing concepts in this class. Students will design their four custom fused glass panels using frit, stringers, nuggets, and enamel paints. Your beautiful artwork will be fired, then inserted into a wrought iron lantern. Lantern measures 11″H x 6″W x 6″D. Class includes all supplies and materials. If these dates and times don’t work for you, please inquire about private classes.

Stained glass is an art form that magically combines glass with light. The copper foil technique, also known as the Tiffany Method, allows you to create more intricate designs than are possible with the traditional lead method. This introductory class provides a foundation for you to start expressing your creativity through this unique medium. We will cover designing projects for glass, the art of glass cutting, grinding, foiling, soldering, finishing, and presentation. Students will select from 3 designs provided to create a copper foil panel. It is important that you not miss any of the 4 class sessions. Each class builds on the previous class. All supplies included.
No previous experience required. Please wear closed-toed shoes.
